A good example of an antique dowry box dating from the late 19th / early 20th Century. It likely originates from India and the pyramid shape is typical of the Kerala region. It is made of a dense exotic hardwood with metal strapping and a handle on the top. The hinged lid opens to reveal two compartments.
It is in good condition and is strong and sturdy with a lovely rich patina. There are signs of age and use, some small chips and knocks and surface marks but no major damages. Sadly the lock no longer works and we do not have a key.
