Fine example of an Antique Horse's Hoof mounted in White Metal and made into an Inkwell. It dates to around 1900 and is extremely well made. The mount is delicately engraved and shaped to look like hair around the top of the hoof. The hoof itself is also mounted to an iron shoe. The hinged lid opens to reveal a glass inkwell. There are no marks on the mount to indicate that it is silver so i must sell it as white metal.
It is in very good condition for its age and displays very nicely. The hoof is a good large size with a nice patina and shine. The mount is in good condition with just some small dinks and dents but nothing detrimental. The hinge and glass liner are in good order. There are some areas of tarnishing on the mount but it has been lightly cleaned and polished to retain its natural aged patina.
