Product Details

A good example of a late Victorian hall chair in the Gothic Revival style. It is made of oak with a decorative Steeple Arch carved back, in the manner of Pugin. It stands on turned tapering front legs and sabre splayed rear legs.

It is in good condition for its age and has the original stained finish. There are signs of age and use, some surface marks and small knocks and there is an old repaired split in the seat. It is strong and sturdy and has at some point had some metal brackets made to support the back legs under the seat.

The chair stands approximately 34" (86cm) high, the seat is 12 1/2" (32cm) deep, 16" (41cm) wide and 17" (43cm) high.
