A good quality glazed cabinet dating from the late 19th / early 20th Century - ideal for use as a bookcase or display cabinet. It was likely originally used in a shop or a school and is a simple utilitarian design with two sets of glazed doors opening to a shelved interior. The position of the shelves are adjustable and it comes with its original working key.
It is a good size with useful narrow proportions. The wood is either Mahogany or American Walnut and it has developed a lovely rich patina.
The cabinet is in good condition for its age and displays well. It is not without signs of age and use, some small knocks and a few old chips and marks around the base but nothing detrimental. The glass is all original and undamaged. One shelf is a later replacement but it has been made well and all of the shelves are clean and sturdy. It has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
