A good example of an 18th Century solid Sterling Silver shaker pot, most likely a pounce pot but it could also have been for spices such as nutmeg or for salt or pepper. It is a good quality piece with a simple shape, a round foot, pierced top and a decorative finial. It weighs approximately 67g.

The hallmark is slightly rubbed but still visible. It is clearly marked for London in the mid 18th century and I believe it is marked for the year 1751 and the maker David Mowden.

It is in good condition for its age although has suffered a little damage over the years. There are some minor dinks and light surface marks around the body and some old soldered repairs to the inside of the pierced lid but overall it displays well. It has been gently cleaned and polished is ready for use.
