Product Details

A superb French Farmhouse table dating from the mid 19th century. It has the most wonderful planked top made from three thick boards of elm and it stands on square tapering oak legs. It is a particularly large size, comfortably seating 10-12 people and the end of the legs have been tipped to give a good clearance of 23" (58.5cm) all around.

The table has lots of character and the patination and wear on the top is lovely. There are various natural knots and burrs and old marks and the planks have mellowed to an attractive warm colour. There are extensive signs of old worm which has all been treated as a precaution and hasn't affected the table structurally or aesthetically. The planks have naturally shrunk apart over the years and there have been various repairs and pieces of wood inset where the edges of the planks have been nibbled away but it is a solid and sturdy table. There are various knocks and marks around the legs and signs of age and use but nothing detrimental. It has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
