A superb antique French strongbox dating from the late 19th century. It is a small size but incredibly heavy and designed to be travelled with and it has an ornate carrying handle on the top. The edges of the box are reinforced with metal straps and studs and it has a makers plate on the front for "BAUCHE".
It comes with a working key which opens the front door. The interior has been lined with a green felt at some point. The key is more modern than the box so it is possible that either the lock or the key have been replaced at some point but it does work and lock.
It is in very good condition for its age and displays well. There are some signs of age and use, surface marks and knocks and some minor paint loss but nothing detrimental or untoward.
