An attractive and good quality 'Smoker's Bow' or 'Captain's' armchair dating from the late 19th Century. It has a comfortable wide and deep shaped elm seat with broad arms, turned spindles and turned legs joined by a double stretcher.
It is approximately 30" (76cm) high and it is 25" (63cm) wide across the arms. The seat is approximately 17 1/2" (45cm) deep and 16 1/2" (42cm) high.
It is in good condition for its age and it is a strong and sturdy chair. It has developed a lovely age and a nice warm colour. The chair is not without a few marks and signs of age and use but no major damages and nothing detrimental. It has been cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
