An attractive and good quality 'Smoker's Bow' or 'Captain's' armchair dating from the late 19th Century. It has a comfortable wide and deep elm seat with broad arms, turned spindles and turned legs joined by a double stretcher.
It is approximately 31" (79cm) high and 26" (66cm) wide across the arms. The seat is approximately 17 3/4" (45cm) high and 20" (51cm) deep.
It is in very good condition for its age. It has developed a nice aged patina and is a strong and sturdy chair. The chair is not without a few small marks and signs of age and use but no major damages and nothing detrimental. The grain is wonderful and it displays very nicely.
