An attractive and good quality 'Smoker's Bow' or 'Captain's' armchair dating from the early 20th Century. It has a comfortable wide and deep elm seat with broad arms, turned spindles and turned legs joined by a double stretcher.
It is approximately 30" (76cm) high and it is 26 1/2" (67cm) wide across the arms. The seat is approximately 18" (46cm) deep and 17" (43cm) high.
It is in good condition for its age. It has developed a nice aged patina and is a strong and sturdy chair. There are some old shrinkage splits on the end of one arm and the chair is not without a few small marks and signs of age and use but no major damage and nothing detrimental. The grain is wonderful and it displays very nicely.
