Product Details

Good example of an antique Edison Phonograph dating from around the turn of the century. It is a Model A in its original wooden case with a domed lid and applied "Edison Standard Phonograph" banner on the front. It comes with its original brass horn and winding handle.

The mechanism sits on a black bedplate with gold painted detailing and has the metal patent plaque with serial number "S 182788".
The phonograph comes with two cylinders however the quality on both is poor and they are quite badly scratched. As such I have not been able to fully test the Phonograph for quality of sound but all parts move well and as they should. The drive band looks like it may have been replaced at some time but it does drive the player. The motor is strong and moves freely at a good speed and the mechanism has been cleaned and oiled. The stylus looks well used and could probably do with replacing for the best results.
The wooden case is in good condition for its age. There are signs of minor wear and use and the veneer over the domed lid is split and lifting in places but overall it displays very nicely. It has its original winding handle and comes with its brass horn which is in fairly good condition with just some small dinks and dents.
Approximate Measurements:
Length : 13" (33cm)
Width : 8 1/2" (22cm)
Height : 11" (28cm)
Length of Horn : 10" (26cm)
