A superb antique library telescope with both its original tabletop tripod and floorstanding tripod. It was made by Dollond of London and dates to the late 1800s. The telescope is made of lacquered brass and has a single large tube with an extendable eyepiece which focuses the telescope using the rack and pinion knob on the side.
The telescope comes with two different tripods which screw into the base. There is a small folding brass tripod for use on a desk or tabletop and a large mahogany floorstanding tripod.
Both the telescope and stands are in excellent condition and display beautifully - a real statement piece. The telescope has clearly been well looked after and there are no major damages. It has suffered some minor dinks and small knocks to the tube and the lacquer has tarnished in places. The lenses are undamaged and produce a clear and crisp image with a very good range. Please bear in mind the telescope is 100 years old and the lenses will not be like new. There are some small specks of dirt on the lenses but it is perfectly useable.
Approximate Measurements :
Length of Telescope : 37 1/2" (95cm) plus extension
Height on Table Stand : 20" (51cm)
Height on Floor Stand : 69" (175cm)
