A beautiful Victorian jewellery box covered in a deep brown crocodile leather with applied monogram and brass escutcheon. The interior of the box is lined in green velvet with a section to hold rings and its original velvet pad.
The retailer's name "Finnigan's, Manchester" is embellished in gilt writing on the inner edge, a renowned retailer of luxury goods. The lock is stamped "T.Turner & Co, London".
The box comes with a working key and it has an unusual locking mechanism where the brass escutcheon is pushed up and right to release and lock the catch.
The box is in very condition for its age and has a beautiful rich patina. The outer has some small age related knocks and scuffs and there are some small losses to the underside. The interior is generally clean and tidy and it is certainly a usable item.
