A fantastic tabletop collectors cabinet dating from the early 20th Century. It is a good quality piece made from stained pine with turned wooden knobs.
Chests such as this were used for storing all sorts of things - collectors would use them to store samples in, whether that be rocks, butterflies, eggs or coins etc. This particular chest has six drawers, graduating in depth from top to bottom. All but two of the drawers are sectioned out inside into small compartments.
Overall it is in good original condition and has developed a lovely aged patina. There are signs of age and use and the cabinet has picked up some knocks and scuffs and sign of wear over the years but the drawers are clean and all open smoothly and it displays very well. It is certainly usable and the new owner should be proud to display their collection in such a beautiful cabinet.
