A rare and unusual burr walnut table cabinet dating from the mid to late 19th century. It has two glass panelled doors and it stands on bracket feet. There is a small brass knob on the front and it comes with its original working key.
The doors open to a fitted interior with two long sliding drawers above four further drawers with brass knobs. The drawer fronts are beautifully veneered in burr walnut to match the exterior. Each drawer is lined with a smooth metal lining similar to that which I’ve seen used in medical or dentistry cabinets.
The whole piece is in very good condition and although it has been used it has been well looked after over the years. The wood has developed a lovely rich patina and the interior is clean and tidy. There are a few small knocks and marks around the outside, general signs of age and use, some chips around the base and a small shrinkage split to one side but overall it displays well. It has been lightly cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
