A beautiful burr walnut desk dating from the late 19th Century. It has an arrangement of 9 drawers around a central kneehole, each with its original turned knobs. The top of the desk has a good quality leather writing surface with a gilt tooled edge and the desk stands on castors.
It is an excellent quality piece with panelled sides on both the inner and outer edges and it has an internal panel at the rear of the kneehole as well.
The desk is in very good condition for its age and has been well looked after. The colour and patina of the walnut is superb and the leather is in good order with some old stains and marks but no major damages. The drawers open well and are generally clean and tidy. The locks have been removed at some point but replaced with steel panels to fill the holes. There are some normal signs of age and use, some minor knocks, chips and light surface marks and some shrinkage splits around the top but nothing detrimental or untoward. The desk has been cleaned and polished is ready for use.
