A lovely set of antique letter scales. The scales themselves are brass and they are set on a good quality shaped wooden base. The scales come with a set of six brass weights weighing 8oz, 4oz, 2oz, 1oz, 1oz and 1/8oz. The weighing platform is marked with "inland postal rates"
The set is in good original condition. They have been lightly cleaned and polished to retain their natural patina and aged look. The brass has tarnished with age and there are some small knocks and scuffs around the base but no major damages. I'm not sure if all the weights are original but the set displays nicely. The scales appear to work as they should do but I have not tested them for accuracy and they are really being sold as a decorative item rather than an accurate scientific set of scales.
