Product Details

A superb example of an early 19th Century writing slope. It is made of rosewood with wonderful intricate brass inlay, brass edging and inset military style brass handles. Inside, the box is fitted with a lovely dark maroon leather writing surface with a tooled edge. It comes with a pair of glass inkwells, a pen tray, a stamp slope and it has a small lidded compartment. Below the writing surface is a secret compartment hiding three small drawers which springs open when a piece of wood under the inkwell is pushed.

It is in very good condition for its age and comes with its original working key. There are no major damages to the wood exterior, just some small knocks and minor signs of age and use but nothing detrimental. There is some wear to the leather writing surface, particularly along the crease and a few small sections of brass inlay have been replaced at some point but it still displays beautifully.
