Good example of an early 19th Century Sovereign Scale, to weigh both full and 1/2 sovereigns. The scales are made of brass and fully stamped 'Sovereign Patent Warranted'.
They are also stamped with a Crown and marked 'Smith' for the maker or retailer. The scales come in their original two-part cardboard box.

Length : 4" (10cm)
Height : 1/2" (1.5cm)
They are in good original condition. The brass has tarnished a little over time and they have been lightly cleaned and polished to retain this natural patina and they display very nicely. The box has worn a little and the label has rubbed and faded but it is strong and sturdy.
