A lovely set of antique balance beam scales dating from the late 19th / early 20th century. The scales are made entirely of brass and have two brass pans suspended by chains. They have an unusual brass base with inset weights. In total there are a complete set of 8 graduated weights.
The whole set is in very good condition and displays well. The brass has tarnished over time and there are signs of age and use and some minor marks but nothing detrimental. Although complete, they are really being sold as a decorative collectors item rather than an accurate scientific instrument.
