A good example of an antique Windsor Bar-Back type carver chair dating from the late 19th century. It has a shaped elm seat with curved arms supported by turned spindles. It has a curved back with central turned bar and stands on turned legs joined by a H-stretcher. The rear of the seat is stamped with the maker's initials J.K.
The chair stands approximately 34" (86cm) high and it is 20 1/2" (52cm) wide across the arms. The seat is 17" (43cm) deep and 16 1/2" (42cm) high.
It is in good condition with a nice colour. It is strong and sturdy with no major damages. There are signs of age and use and some marks and light knocks on the seat and around the legs but nothing detrimental. There are signs of historic worm in places which has all been treated as a precaution and haven't affected the chair structurally or aesthetically. It has been gently cleaned and polished and is ready for use.
