Product Details

A lovely set of antique balance beam scales dating from the late 19th / early 20th century. The scales are made of brass and has one brass pan suspended by chain and another glass pan on a brass cradle. The beam is marked "Philip Harris & Co Ltd Birmingham. Class B. To Weigh 2oz". The scales screw into the top of the box for easy use wherever they would have been set up and pack away neatly into the drawer below.

They come with a stack of 3 brass weights and a set of 5 smaller antique weights.
The whole set is in very good condition and displays well. The brass has tarnished over time and there are signs of age and use and some minor marks on the box but nothing detrimental. Although complete, they are really being sold as a decorative collectors item rather than an accurate scientific instrument.
Measurements :
Box : 12" x 6"
Height : 14" (36cm)
Beam Length : 7 1/2" (19cm)

Pan Diameter : 3" (8cm)
