A good example of an unusual anglo-indian style writing slope. It dates from the mid 19th century and has a reeded ebony exterior.

Inside, the lid of the box has a wooden panel to hold letters or papers. It comes with a pair of glass inkwells, a pen tray and a turned ruler. The interior surface folds out further to reveal a large sloped writing surface covered in a black felt. There is storage below each part of the writing surface and a secret compartment hiding three small drawers. It comes with its original working key.

It is in very good condition for its age. There are a few small knocks and minor chips to the wood exterior but no major damages. There is some wear to the writing surfaces but the box is generally clean and tidy inside and it displays well.
