Product Details

Fantastic counter-top haberdashery cabinet dating from the late 19th Century. It is a well made good quality piece with its original white ceramic handles and the original advertising slogan on each drawer and the back panel. Clark & Co were based in Paisley and Anchor Mills was founded in the mid 19th Century and were one of the first companies to produce spooled thread. In 1896 the company merged with Coats and adopted that name, dating the drawers to just before that time.

These drawers would have been on a counter in a haberdashery shop and it could still be used for storing laces and craft items but it would also make a great collectors chest for just about anything - medals, coins etc. This particular chest has two long drawers.

Overall, it is in good original condition and has developed a lovely aged patina with lots of wear. It is not new and has been well used so please do not expect it to be like new. The drawers have picked up some minor knocks and scuffs and signs of wear over the years but the drawers are generally clean and run smoothly. It is certainly usable and displays beautifully.
