A beautiful antique writing slope dating from the early 19th Century. It is made of the finest amboyna wood with ebony, mother of pearl and silver inlay and it comes with a working key. The top section lifts up to reveal a lidded compartment and two glass inkwells. The sloped front then folds down to reveal a deep blue velvet writing slope with tooled edging. The top part of the writing slope lifts up to give extra storage space below.
The box is excellent quality and
in good condition for its age. It has been lightly cleaned and polished and it displays very well inside and out. There are some minor signs of age and use but no major damages. There has been a small repair on the back trim and there is some wear on the writing surface along the crease but nothing detrimental.
