A lovely adjustable music or reading stand dating from the late 19th Century. The stand itself is made of mahogany with a book rest and two brass fingers. It stands on an ornate brass base with three legs terminating in small brass feet. The upper section is telescopic and the height can be adjusted by using the screw on the side to move it up or down. The angle of the stand can also be adjusted using the screw on the reverse.
One foot is stamped with the makers mark "S H & S".
It is in good condition for its age and all the parts move well. It is strong and sturdy and is certainly usable. The brass has tarnished over time and there are of course signs of age and use but no major damages or anything detrimental.
