Product Details

A stunning small colonial chest of drawers dating from the mid 19th century. They are made of teak with recessed turned handles, dragoon moulded edging, set on turned fluted feet. Typical of campaign furniture they split into two parts and are held in place with small wooden pegs.

They are in good condition with a wonderful aged patina with great depth and lots of signs of age and use. The drawers are generally clean and tidy and open well and the back is good and solid. They have been well used and have likely been well travelled but they have been looked after and maintained with a few old repairs and restorations. The back feet have been replaced and are a similar match to the front ones but aren't fluted. The side piece of moulding on the left has also been replaced and doesn't quite match the front and other side. The top part of the chest would have had handles on the sides to help move it around but these have been taken off many years ago.
