Product Details

A good example of an antique Anglo-Indian box dating from the 19th Century. It is made from a dense exotic hardwood and is bound with brass strapping and brass corner pieces. It has two metal carrying handles and comes with its original working key. The hinged lid opens to reveal a few small fitted compartments inside. It was likely it was used as a document / writing box for important papers.

It is in good condition and is strong and sturdy with a lovely rich patina. There are signs of age and use, some small knocks and old splits but no major damages or losses and it displays beautifully. It has been cleaned and lightly polished to retain its aged patina.
