Product Details

An original WW2 Pilot's compass used in Spitfires and other military planes during the war. The compass has its original grey painted finish with a plaque on the side which reads "A.M. 6A/893". The compass rim is marked O.2.B Compass. On top of the compass is its original Azimuth Circle marked "Azimuth Circa No.4. Ref No. 6A/890. No.29485E".

Both instruments are in good condition. There are some signs of age and use but the paint is in excellent condition with very few marks and losses and overall they display very well.
The instrument sits in its original box, with the original grey painted finish with hand written red warning notices 'Delicate instrument to be handled with great care' marked on the sides. There are various knocks, scuffs and signs of age and use on the box and a couple of woodworm holes but its sturdy and displays well and even has its original cloth handle.
Approximate Measurements :
Box : 9" (23cm) square x 10 1/2" (27cm) high
Diameter of compass : 6 1/2" (17cm)
I have not tested the compass for accuracy and it is sold as seen as a decorative / collectors piece.
