A superb example of a small early 18th Century solid Sterling Silver caster by renowned maker Thomas Bamford. It is particularly small so could be for sugar but was likely for spices or possibly pounce. It is an excellent quality piece with an octagonal body, round foot and pierced top with finial. It weighs approximately 83g.
It is clearly hallmarked on the base for London, 1723 and the maker Thomas Bamford. The neck also has the maker's mark T.B.
It is in good condition for its age and has been gently cleaned and polished. There are some faint surface marks, a small dent on the bottom part (see photo) and there are some subtle old silver solder repairs to minor damages to the pierced top (see photos) but overall it displays beautifully.
Base Diameter : 1 1/4" (3.5cm)
