A good example of a small english Oak Coffer dating from the mid to late 18th Century. It has a traditional panelled construction standing on four block feet. The front is decorated with a simple frieze rail of arched carvings and some further linear carvings. The lid opens on ring hinges and the boarded interior has a small candle box.
It is in good condition and has developed a beautiful rich patina. There are some signs of age and use, some knocks and marks and minor historic shrinkage splits but nothing untoward. There are signs of old worm and rot in the bottom of the legs which is all historic but has been treated as a precaution and it is strong and sturdy. It has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
