A good example of an english Oak Coffer dating from the mid 18th Century. It has a traditional panelled construction standing on four block feet. It is a simple plain design and has never been over-carved. The lid has its original ring hinges and it is generally clean and tidy inside with its original floor and small candle box. It also comes with its original working key.
It is in good original condition. It has developed a beautiful rich patina and is strong and sturdy. There are signs of age and use, some light knocks and marks here and there but no major damages. There are some minor shrinkage splits in the top panels and the floor has shrunk leaving small gaps but it is strong and sturdy and displays well. It has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
