A good example of an oak cradle dating from the mid 18th century. It has panelled sides, turned finials and a square canopy with hinged lid. It is set on rockers which have leather strips attached to the bottom to soften the noise of any rock.
It is in excellent original condition with a fabulous patina and the oak has a wonderful rich colour. It is strong and sturdy and there aren't any major damages. There are of course signs of age and use, some small knocks and marks and signs of wear but nothing detrimental. There are some minor signs of historic worm which has all been treated as a precaution and hasn't affected the piece structurally or aesthetically. It has been cleaned and lightly polished and displays beautifully.
