A good example of a small english Oak Coffer dating from the mid to late 18th Century. It has a traditional panelled construction standing on four block feet. The front is decorated with a simple frieze rail of arched carvings and diamond shaped inlay to the panels. The lid opens on its original ring hinges and the boarded interior has a small lidded candle box.
It is in good condition and has developed a beautiful rich patina. There are some signs of age and use, some knocks and marks and minor historic shrinkage splits but nothing untoward. There are signs of old worm which is all historic but has been treated as a precaution and it is strong and sturdy. It has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
