A nice example of an English oak coffer dating from the 18th Century. It has a traditional panelled front and top with planked V-cut ends. The front panels have naively carved diamond shaped.
It has a hinged lid with its original ring hinges. It has a boarded base and is generally clean and tidy inside with its original candle box.
It is in good condition for its age and has developed a beautiful rich patina. There have been some old repairs over the years but it is strong and sturdy and there are no major damages. There are of course signs of age and use, some knocks and marks and minor splits but nothing detrimental. The coffer has been cleaned and lightly polished and is ready for use.
