A fine example of an 18th century solid silver cream or milk jug with bulbous body, rounded foot, scalloped edge and scrolling handle. It is stylish and good quality and weighs approximately 62g.
It is hallmarked for London, 1769 and has a makers mark for I S & A N which is listed as "unidentified" by Grimwade under Unregistered Marks.
Someone has faintly etched "Charles II 1661 / 1662" on the underneath of the foot but I do not believe this to be the correct date.
It is in good condition for its age. There are no major damages and it displays well. There are some faint surface marks, signs of age and use and some surface dinks and imperfections but nothing untoward. It has been gently cleaned and polished and displays beautifully.
