A good example of a small 18th Century solid Sterling Silver caster. It is particularly small so could be for pepper or possibly pounce. It is a good quality piece with a bulbous body, round foot and pierced top with finial. It weighs approximately 72g.
It is clearly hallmarked on the base for London, 1768 and the maker Jabez Daniel & James Mince. The neck also has the maker's mark.
It is in good condition for its age however it has suffered some minor damages over the years. There are some small dinks and dents around the edges of the round body and a small split on the edge of the foot (see photos). There are some faint surface marks and other signs of age and use but no other damages or anything detrimental. It has been gently cleaned and polished and overall it displays beautifully.
