A lovely 18th Century spindle back elm chair with a rush seat and very unusual decorative brass banding. It has turned arms, wonderfully worn away on the top through use over many years. The chair has a nice curved back with simple straight legs and stretchers with decorative turning on the front stretcher.
It is in good condition for its age and has a wonderful rich colour and lovely patina. It is a good sturdy chair with no major damages or breakages and the rush is in good order. There are signs of age and use and a chip out of the back of one spindle (see photo) but nothing detrimental.
The chair stands approximately 35" (89cm) high, the seat is 17" (43) deep and arm to arm the chair is 21" (53cm) wide. The seat itself is 15" (38cm) from the ground.
