A good example of a rare 18th century bloodletting lancet set or 'fleam' in a solid Sterling Silver case. Both fleams fold out, one from a mother of pearl case and one from a tortoiseshell case. There are sections within the hinged silver case for both fleams and they fit snugly although, being different materials, perhaps one is not original. Nonetheless it is a very nice set.
The case is fully hallmarked for London, 1795 and the maker John Lias.
