Product Details

A good example of a rare 18th century bloodletting lancet set or 'fleam' in a solid Sterling Silver case. Both fleams fold out, one from a mother of pearl case and one from a tortoiseshell case. There are sections within the hinged silver case for both fleams and they fit snugly although, being different materials, perhaps one is not original. Nonetheless it is a very nice set.

The case is fully hallmarked for London, 1795 and the maker John Lias.

It is in good condition with clear hallmarks. There are no major damages but the case has picked up some minor dinks and dents over the years and faint surface marks. It has been gently cleaned and polished and displays well.
