A good example of a 17th Century solid Sterling silver Trefid spoon with rat-tail handle. It has the traditional upturned three pronged end with original engraved initials 'E.P' on the reverse.
It has a good set of hallmarks, although slightly rubbed, the lion passant and London mark are very clear plus the maker's mark for William Matthew. The date letter is partly worn but we believe it to be for 1686. The spoon weighs approximately 56g.
