Product Details

A lovely Davenport desk dating from the late 19th Century. It is made of walnut with nicely inlaid borders and stringing and a carved fretwork gallery around the top edge. It has a sloped front with a beautifully tooled red leather writing surface that lifts up to reveal a large storage compartment with a small drawer and pigeon holes.

There are four drawers to one side of the davenport and four matching dummy drawers to the other. It also has a small drawer with a pen tray in that swings around to the side. It has two carved scrolling supports and stands on turned bun feet with castors below.

It is a very good quality piece and in good condition with a wonderful patina. The drawers open smoothly and the interior is generally clean and tidy. There is some wear to the leather writing surface and a few small losses. There are signs of age and use, some minor marks, a few old chips and splits but nothing detrimental and overall it is a lovely sturdy piece of furniture. We do not have any keys. It has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
