A large antique blanket box dating from the late 19th century. It is made of pine which has retained its original hand painted scumbled finish. It has a lovely warm colour and is a very attractive piece. It has metal carrying handles and inside it has its original strap hinges and a candle box with two small drawers below.
A good size for a coffee table, end of the bed storage or toy trunk.
It is in good condition for its age. It is strong and sturdy and generally clean and tidy inside. There are signs of use and age, some general knocks and marks and small losses and wear to the paint here and there but nothing untoward or detrimental. There are some signs of historic worm in the base which has all been treated as a precaution. The box has been cleaned and gently polished and is ready for use.
