A beautiful Victorian mahogany desk dating from the late 19th Century. It has an arrangement of 9 drawers around a central kneehole and each drawer has brass ring pull handles. The top of the desk has a good quality green leather writing surface with a gilt tooled edge.
The desk is in good condition for its age and has been well looked after. It has been repolished and has a lovely rich patina. The drawers open well and are generally clean and tidy inside with the original blue penny paper linings. There are some normal signs of age and use, some minor knocks and light surface marks but no major damages. The three part leather has slightly shrunk away in places (see photos) and has some stains and fading but nothing to concern us and overall it displays well.
This desk is made as one solid piece and does not split.
