A lovely country oak bureau dating from the late 18th Century. It has nice small proportions and stands on bracket feet. It has a sloped front above four drawers, each with pierced brass handles and matching escutcheons. Two pulls support the front which opens to reveal a series of small pigeon holes and drawers. It comes with its original working key for the sloped front.
It is in very good condition for its age and the oak has developed a wonderful rich colour over the years. It has been cleaned and gently polished, retaining the original patina. There are some signs of age and use, some old knocks and marks and a few small repairs but no major damages and the piece is strong and sturdy. The interior is in good condition with a few old surface marks and stains but nothing detrimental. The drawers open smoothly and are generally clean and tidy inside.
