A good example of an antique silver capstan style inkwell complete with a ceramic liner. It is a stylish and good quality piece with a wide base.
It is hallmarked for Chester, 1912. The mark is slightly rubbed so I cannot distinguish the maker.
It is in good condition for its age and displays well. There are signs of age and use, some faint surface marks, a few light scratches and minor dinks (one particularly on the bottom edge, see photo) but nothing major. The liner is a little loose where there has been some shrinkage inside the well but it isn't detrimental. It has been gently cleaned and polished is ready for use.
