Antique Rosewood Brass Bound Vanity Box
A fine example of a beautiful Victorian Rosewood box. Most likely to have once been a Gentleman's travelling vanity box it can now be used to store all manner or trinkets or jewellery. The outer of the box is made of the finest quality rosewood with brass banding, escutcheon and a recessed military style brass handle in the top.
Inside the box, the lid is lined with red velvet and the edges are covered with brass. There are various fitted and lined sections and two glass lidded jars. The top tray lifts out to reveal three further compartments below.
It is in very good condition for its age and has been well made and well looked after. There are some minor signs of age and use, a couple of small dents in the brass work and a small old shrinkage split in the top but overall the piece displays beautifully. Internally the box is generally clean and tidy with some minor wear to the velvet lining but nothing detrimental. It has been cleaned, waxed and the brass has been lightly polished and it is ready for use.
