Victorian Walnut Writing Slope
with Secret Drawers
A lovely antique writing slope with brass corners, brass escutcheon and matching brass cartouche. Inside, the box is fitted with a good quality writing surface with gold tooling. There is also a removable pen tray and two glass inkwells. There is a secret compartment below the leather that springs open by lifting a piece of wood next to the inkwell, revealing 3 small secret drawers.
It is in excellent condition for its age and comes with its original working key. The brass has been lightly polished and it displays very well inside and out. There is a small chip on one corner but no other major damages to the wood exterior and the patination is beautiful. There are some small knocks and minor signs of age and use but nothing that affects the overall appearance of the box. The inkwells are not original and have some small chips but display well.
