Antique Farmhouse Windsor Chair
Beautiful example of a Windsor lathe-back country chair – sometimes referred to as a grandfather chair. It dates from the late 1800s. The frame is made in beech with a solid elm seat. The turned legs are united by an H-stretcher and the gently arched top rail has elegant serpentine-curved lathes beneath, with scrolling elm arms supported by turned spindles. It has a beautiful finish with a rich colour and patina and the back of the seat is stamped 'G' by the maker.
The chair stands approximately 42" (107cm) high, the seat is 19 1/2" (50cm) deep and arm to arm the chair is 25" (64cm)wide.
It is in good condition and is strong and sturdy with no signs of worm or any major damages. The best description comes from the photos so please look at them all carefully and if you have any questions please ask.
