Antique Desk Calendar
A lovely desk calendar dating from the early to mid 20th century in a silver plated brass frame on an oak base. The back of the calendar is held on by two clips and this enables the month cards to be turned over and changed. There are a selection of cards with all 12 months on and 7 cards that start the first day of the month on each different day so the correct calendar month can be shown. It's very well made and is stamped with a patent number '9954' and 'Reg 701098'.
It's in good condition for its age. The month cards and generally clean and in good condition and the oak base has a lovely aged patina. The frame would have originally been silver plated but most has worn off over time with only a little remaining around the sides. However the brass below is in good condition and has been lightly polished and the calendar displays very nicely. The two knobs on the top would have originally turned a plastic film with a red line on to cross out the days of the month - this has long since been removed and the calendar works perfectly well without them.
