Antique Cornish Pine Dresser
A good example of a country pine dresser dating from the early to mid 19th century, originally from Cornwall. The base has four deep drawers, each with black painted knobs. The top part of the dresser has two glazed cupboard doors with attractive beading, opening to reveal a cream painted interior with two generous sized shelves. The doors have a working lock and key and small brass peardrop handles. The dresser has enormous wide boards on the back and it is set on a plinth base.
It is in good condition throughout and is a clean sturdy piece of furniture. It has been thoroughly cleaned and has a nice smooth waxed finish. It is not without some signs of age and use but nothing detrimental. Many of the glass panels are original. A few have been replaced but it is not detrimental. There are some minor historic wodworm holes but this hasn't affected it structurally or aesthetically and they have been treated as a precuation. There has been a small repair to the back board (see photo) but no other major damages and the drawers all run well. It has been well maintained and is ready for use.
